Keanu Reeves makes his driving debut at Indianapolis but slips and ends up off the track

Keanu Reeves has officially made his debut in the world of auto racing. The Matrix actor actually participated in the Toyota GR Cupa race for car enthusiasts and budding drivers, which took place on the legendary Indianapolis circuit, not without thrilling the many fans who came to support it.

In the first of two challenges, Reeves actually left the track to avoid a collision. Fortunately, the 60-year-old actor remained unhurt and was able to finish the race, placing 25th out of a total of 33 drivers. Score improved by one position in the second race, in which he finished 24th. His teammate was “Dude Perfect” star Cody Jones.

Reevs was driving the No. 1 car. 92 BRZRKR, a reference to his graphic novel “Le Livre d’Ailleurs” which he co-wrote with China Miéville. The novel was released in July and is part of Reeves' BRZRKR comic book series, the first of which will be released in 2021.

A huge car enthusiast, the actor had until now only participated in celebrity car events and in 2009, he even lifted the first trophy at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Meanwhile, the film “Speed,” in which he stars with Sandra Bullock, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a special screening Tuesday in Los Angeles at which Bullock and Reeves will be in attendance.
