“I bought the wine!”: Dinner between four brothers-in-law ends in stabbings and bolts. Two arrests for attempted murder

The Casoria episode, in the Neapolitan region: the relatives all had clean criminal records. The youngest was injured in the side, another was hit in the head. A woman had a broken arm

“The wine is mine.” This could have ended here, with a joke in response or a bit of embarrassment. And instead, a banal argument between relatives at dinner, which began with a “simple” argument over who among those present had bought the wine, ended in stabbings and bolts. It happened in Casoria, in the province of Naples, around 8 p.m. Two arrests for attempted murder, three people hospitalized: some with stab wounds, others with fractures.

A bloody fight

The protagonists of the family fight are four brothers-in-law, aged 56 to 66, and a 58-year-old woman, wife of one of them and sister of two others: all without criminal records. Once we sat down together for dinner, a very heated argument broke out over the wine bottles: “I bought them”, “Yes, but the money was mine”. In a short time, the house in the center of Casoria is transformed into a theater of internal guerrilla warfare. The 61-year-old brother-in-law grabs a knife and stabs the youngest person present twice in the side. The eldest, bitten on the shoulder by one of the people present, grabs an iron stick and hits the fourth relative in the head. The woman tries to intervene to calm things down but also ends up the victim of a violent blow, breaking her arm.

Around 8 p.m., police from the local police station intervened and confiscated the weapons. The two stabbed and stabbed relatives were transferred to the hospital and given prognoses of 30 and 10 days. The armed relatives and the most violent during the fight, aged 61 and 66, are now in prison for attempted murder.
