The first friendly match of the Italian national team in the United States against Venezuela ended in victory: a brace from Mateo Retegui was enough for the Azzurri to liquidate their opponents. In Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spalletti decided to experiment with a three-man defense, with Udogie and Cambiaso on the wings and offensive duo Mateo Retegui and Federico Chiesa. Ready, go, Italy concedes an error to its opponents, but Donnarumma manages to save. The first half went on until the 40th minute, when, at the first clear opportunity, Retegui converted Cambiaso's assist into the goal. But the lead did not last long, three minutes later, Venezuela equalized.
