Good first match for Italy in the United States: 2-1 against Venezuela, double from Retegui

The first friendly match of the Italian national team in the United States against Venezuela ended in victory: a brace from Mateo Retegui was enough for the Azzurri to liquidate their opponents. In Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Spalletti decided to experiment with a three-man defense, with Udogie and Cambiaso on the wings and offensive duo Mateo Retegui and Federico Chiesa. Ready, go, Italy concedes an error to its opponents, but Donnarumma manages to save. The first half went on until the 40th minute, when, at the first clear opportunity, Retegui converted Cambiaso's assist into the goal. But the lead did not last long, three minutes later, Venezuela equalized. In the second half, Italy does not change gear and makes a lot of mistakes, Venezuela has the opportunity to score again but then Spalletti changes formation and goes to 4-3-3: Chiesa, Locatelli, Frattesi and Cambiaso absent (and Bonaventura at the start of the second half), Zaccagni, Jorgijho, Pellegrini, Zaniolo and Barella. The Azzurri came out of their torpor and increased the pace of their game. On the second chance of the match, Retegui scored his double 10 minutes from time, and the result never changed. The national team will then face Ecuador on Sunday March 24 (9:00 p.m. Italian time).
