“Ringhio” Rino Gattuso will no longer be the coach of the France team, all that is missing is the official announcement. The Calabrian coach succeeded Marcelino in September at the head of the France team. Last Sunday's Ligue 1 defeat to Brest was fatal for the Italian coach, a result which dented the club's hopes of qualifying for European competition next season. The defeat against Brest literally made the former Italian midfielder lose his patience and after the match he spoke bluntly: “This team lacks soul – he said – We have to be honest in saying that we don't deserve this jersey if we play with this mentality. “It's as if Gattuso threw in the towel: 'I apologize to the fans because we've hit rock bottom and we can't go any lower.'
Marseille and Gattuso have started legal proceedings to part ways and the club is looking for a replacement until the end of the season. Marseille are currently ninth in the table after 22 games, behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain by 23 points. Gattuso, writes L'Equipe, has already said goodbye to the players and staff, announcing the end of Marseille's history.
