Conegliano is the first finalist from Trieste

Standing room at PalaTrieste for the semi-finals of the Italian Women's Volleyball Cup. The first match, that between Conegliano and Chieri, under the watchful eye of Julio Velasco, Italy coach, brought emotion and entertainment – without, however, upsetting the predictions: 3 to 0 (25-18; 25-16; 25- 12) for Prosecco Doc is the definitive result. However, the Piedmontese immediately attacked the match then gave in to the return of Plummer and her teammates who closed the first set with a score of 25 to 18 without too much trouble.

The technical gap between the Venetians and the Piedmontese is obvious and with Weitzel and Grobelna they tried to “scare” their opponents, the reigning Italian champions. Thus, even in the second set, substantial parity reigned until 10, then the first break (14-10 and 16-12) with Plummer in the lead, able to avoid the opponent's block both diagonally and on the line. An ace from Haak and a quick space from De Kruijf also put the second set to rest (25-16).

The plot of the match did not change in the third set where the Piedmontese “resisted” at the beginning (6-6) and were then defeated by the Italian champions who perfectly adjusted the patterns. In defense or in the center, Daniele Santarelli's girls dictated the law with Isabelle Haak and Kathryn Plummer dominating the net. The spectacular and very long action, between dunks and defenses, effectively closed the match: 20 to 12 for the Prosecco Doc of Conegliano which then went to 22 to 12 and closed at 25 to 12 with three-point attacks from Sarah Fahr on the day of grace.
