Career

The son of a small cinema director and a saleswoman, Alain Fabien Maurice Marcel Delon was born on November 8, 1935. At the age of four, after his parents separated, he was entrusted to an adoptive family. The actor's angular and impetuous character, which he had displayed since childhood, was often linked to this painful phase of his life. After experimenting with different professions, Delon saw his career take off thanks to the director Luchino Visconti. First in 1960 with “Rocco and His Brothers”, then in 1963 with Il Gattopardo, he became one of the most popular faces in world cinema.

The reactions

The late artist left the memory of French President Emmanuel Macron, who defined him in X as a national monument: “Mr. Klein or Rocco, in The Leopard or The Samurai, Alain Delon played legendary roles and made the world dream. Lending his unforgettable face to turn our lives upside down. Melancholic, popular, secret, he was more than a star: he was a French monument.”
