And in a moment of particular economic difficulties, he allowed himself to acquire two items from the Pam hypermarket in Turin, where he works. For this he was fired. “It appears particularly serious that you deliberately took certain items from the sales shelves for a total value of 7.05 euros and then left the store without paying for them. We hereby inform you of the termination of the employment relationship”, reads the letter that Roberto (fictitious name) received according to what was reconstructed by the Corriere della Sera. Roberto stole a scamorza and six eggs from the shelves, because “motivated by hunger, I arrive at the end of the month with 200 euros in my account and by a difficult family situation.” Goods for a total of 7.05 euros. The man then apologized. “I am aware of the mistake made. I live in a private and economic situation at the limit of the sustainable, which does not justify what happened but led me to commit what was contested”, he is said to have declared. He explains having been confronted with the latter years at “mortgage rates, family health expenses” for which “the salary proved insufficient. The union, explains the newspaper, intends to contest the dismissal, specifies Matteo Rossi of Fisascat Cisl.
