Netherlands, the museum technician throws two cans of beer in the trash. But it was a contemporary work of art

The surreal accident at LAM in Lisse: “By miracle, both cans were intact.” And the worker is forgiven

An unpleasant incident occurred at LAM, a contemporary art museum in Lisse, the Netherlands. An artwork depicting two beer cans inside the elevator went missing at some point. When museum curators noticed this, they immediately activated the search. “By miracle, both cans were found intact” in a nearby trash can, the museum itself said. A worker responsible for maintaining the elevator himself had thrown them there, believing that they were residue left there by an uncivilized visitor. After being checked and cleaned, the cans were repositioned at the entrance to the museum. “We have nothing against the elevator technician, he made no mistake,” stressed the authorities of the LAM museum. The work in question is titled “All The Good Times We Spent Together” and is by French artist Alexandre Lavet. “The theme of our collection is food and consumption,” he told BBC museum director Sietske van Zanten, convinced that “our art encourages visitors to see everyday objects in a new light.” As long as you don't confuse them with waste.
