The most isolated house in the world: it is located on an island in Norway

If you've ever wanted, quite reasonably, to get away from everything and everyone, perhaps the perfect place to escape is a house isolated from the world. No lawn mower noise on a Saturday morning, no passing trucks, no annoying neighbors. On this island Norway there is only one thing: peace and quiet. And a view of practically untouched nature.

The only way to get there is by sea

The “most isolated house in the world”, as the Norwegian media nickname it, is located Skalmensat the western tip of Norway. The only way to get there is by sea: you have to take two different ferries followed by a 6.5 km boat ride.

This solitary retreat is two hours from city life and allows you to disconnect from the distractions of everyday life. Looking at the photo, some suspect that it is an image made with Photoshopbut this is not the case.

The mini-island is deserted

Visitors are “prohibited” between May and the end of July: Skalmensin fact, it is a bird sanctuary. On the small islet located approximately 6.5 kilometers northwest of the villages of Raket And Dyrnes there is only an old lighthouse, a residential building, an engine room and a boathouse.

But the mini-island – which is part of the Norway – turned out to be much more popular than one could have imagined: a few weeks ago, a call for tenders took place between five interested parties. The property was eventually assigned to them Andreas Bjaroy and his wife Mona Kruse Bjarøy. The couple put the equivalent of around 100,000 euros on the table, or two and a half times the starting price.

The old lighthouse

Bjaroy he told the Norwegian channel NRK: “We have vacationed in this area several times over the years and fished very close to Skalmens. The purchase offer had therefore become almost obligatory.” The couple plans to completely renovate the ruined lighthouse, built in 1907, as well as the surrounding buildings. The coastal authorities wanted to demolish it.

However, after interventions from residents, it was put up for sale. The first lighthouse keeper was Anton Lundwho participated in an expedition with the famous explorer Roald Amundsen. His dog's footprint would still be visible on the island.

The (other) houses out of this world

In fact, there are several surprising examples of isolated houses, from small villages high in the mountains to single-house islands. The most “famous” is undoubtedly the one (very photographed) located at Elliðaeyan island in the archipelago of VestmannaeyjarSouth ofIceland.

It is in fact a hunting lodge, and not a real house, built by Elliðaey Hunting Association in the 1950s. In fact, puffins (puffins) nest on the island, which in Iceland they can be hunted.

Another house that social network users like very much – the photo is also very suitable to become a screensaver – is the “Lagangarbh Hut” has GlencoeIn Scottish Highlandsa destination known for its pristine and breathtaking landscapes.
