The national anti-mafia prosecutor, Giovanni Melilloand that of Perugia, Raffaele Cantonerequested to be heard by the Presidential Commission of the Superior Council of the Judicial Power, by the president of the Anti-Mafia Parliamentary Commission and by that of the Parliamentary Commission for the Security of the Republic on the events relating to the said file involving politicians, managers and entertainment personalities.
Melillo and Cantone consider it “duty” to request that their hearing be evaluated “with the urgency of the case”. This involves providing, within the limits set by law, information on the events of the alleged case of political and economic leaders at the center of an investigation by the Perugia public prosecutor's office. Hearings that the magistrates consider “necessary for confidential assessments” of the CSM, the Anti-Mafia Commission and Copasir.

“The investigation into the spies who illegally searched the data of hundreds of citizens, notably from the center-right and in particular politicians and those close to the League, reveals a worrying picture,” writes Matteo Salvini’s party in a note. “We are sure that the highest levels of the institutions will be able to intervene with unequivocal clarity and we will ask Copasir to explore the matter in detail, until obtaining complete clarity on the facts, from the hearings of current and past leaders of the Financial Police and the Anti-Mafia. We are facing an attack against the Republic and democracy,” the note continues, speaking of an attack “which involves the judiciary, the financial police and left-wing newspapers, with the result that on several occasions the prosecution opened investigations on the basis of so-called scoops born from information constructed from illegally obtained data.
