Antonella Di Massa, suicide or murder: the two hypotheses and all the mysteries about the woman who died in Ischia

There are two avenues to explain the death of Antonella Di Massa. The 51-year-old man disappeared in Ischia and whose body was found by two correspondents from Who saw ? maybe she died because she committed suicide. Or she could have been killed. The bruises observed on the body would be decisive. While the detail that the disappearance dates back to February 17 and the death 24 hours before the discovery is the first mystery to explain. The woman left her home in Casamicciola Terme to arrive in Succhivo, a hamlet in the municipality of Serrana Fontana. Here he parked his Fiat Panda. Ten days after the discovery of the body. On private land, the owner is 93 years old. But there are two new aspects that could change everything.

20 kilometers further south

Antonella Di Massa had been married for years to an army employee who works in the Monte Epomeo radar zone. She is the mother of two college-bound daughters. He lived in a small house on Via Pio Monte della Misericordia. And his body was found 20 kilometers further south. Surveillance cameras framed his car outside the Succhivo Pro Loco. She is filmed taking Caravano away. That is, the very road that leads to the rustic farm where she will be found dead. But there are also two witnesses who saw her. The messenger she writes that they met her on Saturday February 17 via Caravano. He walked nervously along the thoroughfare near this country road. One of the two witnesses claims to have recognized her from the photos released after her disappearance.

The murder trail

The witness says that at one point Di Massa tried to hide behind a wall. And he adopted a “cautious” attitude. As if he wanted to hide or not be seen by anyone. But he could also have a somewhat covered meeting. This circumstance suggests that, between her disappearance and her death, Antonella was in the company of someone. And that someone knows a lot about his death. After the disappearance alert, a house in the neighborhood was searched, without any results. While the carabinieri closed the orange grove belonging to the elderly farmers of the region. On site, during the searches, the civil protection molecular dogs visited, without finding any trace of the woman. A circumstance which may suggest a late arrival in the area.

The suicide hypothesis

But the most widespread hypothesis among investigators is that of suicide. The Neapolitan edition of Republic says a bottle of car antifreeze was found near the body. While a note was found in the house in which the woman said she felt misunderstood. And he threatened to move away from the family unit. The autopsy will be carried out by the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the II Polyclinic of Naples. If coolant had been found in the bottle, Antonella could have died from ethylene glycol poisoning: in these cases, people die within hours of ingestion. The investigations are coordinated by Assistant Prosecutor Gloria Sanseverino.

The mystery to be revealed

But even if the autopsy ultimately revealed that Antonella died from the liquid, there would still be a mystery to be revealed. In other words, where she was until the day she ingested ethylene glycol. One of the investigators' hypotheses is that she entered the woods and found a bed. But then why have research never identified it?
