“Stop the agreements with Saudi Arabia, the rights violated”

Twenty-four hours after the world's male tennis stars performed in Riyadh, with a €6 million prize up for grabs for the winner, 106 professional female footballers from 24 countries sent a letter to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, to demand that the organization break agreements with Aramco, the Saudi oil company, because it is an “autocratic regime that systematically violates women's rights and criminalizes the LGBTQ+ community”.

Directly and unequivocally, the actors, through an open letter, demand the cancellation of the partnership between FIFA and Aramco, the energy giant belonging to Saudi Arabia. An oil giant that threatens the global environment, in the hands of a country that does not respect women's rights and criminalizes the LGBTQ+ community, cannot partner with FIFA and sponsor events like the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Women's World Cup.

Sofie Pedersen, Inter supporter, is one of the organizers: “Values are not just words to be written on a page: they must be lived and supported”.
