Ice hockey has a great tradition in Italy and Cortina represents one of its main places. It is worth mentioning the historic challenges of the Dolomites with Alleghe and Fassa, those in which the Italians and the natives met with goals, “hooks with a stick” and penalty minutes. It is a fast and physical discipline where skates, curved sticks, discs and different types of padding are mandatory to access the competition field.
In Cortina, the meeting with the coach Giovanni Marchetti who played as protagonist in the Albertville Olympic Games in 1992 and who today coaches the Venetian youth team: “The Olympic competitions will be played in Milan, which has a great tradition in Italian hockey and which will be a delight to admire the best in the world in competition. Here, my boys dream of being able to participate, they train and then, who knows.”
