England national team, Pep Guardiola's number 1 goal for the bench

City manager Pep Guardiola's face is on the front pages of major English sports newspapers and a new coach is needed for the next World Cup. Who better than the Spanish coach who won everything? The 'Daily Mail' reports that the Spaniard is England's 'dream' candidate and that the FA are prepared to wait to sign him.

It's all about the 115 charges brought against Manchester City for violating financial rules. 'The Times' and 'The Mirror' report that last summer the Football Association contacted the City manager, whose contract expires at the end of the season, despite knowing that he would not be able to pay the 30 million euros per year that he currently earns. Lee Carsley acknowledged that “the job deserves a world-class, trophy-winning manager. I'm still on track to achieve that.”

A divorce between City and the Spaniard in June cannot be ruled out. According to the authoritative “Times”, but also according to the entire British press and beyond, the Football Association places him at the top of its wish list for the role of coach. After Southgate's farewell, interim coach Lee Carsley is on the bench of the “Three Lions”, but there is no definitive solution yet and according to the “Times”, the FA have already started initial contacts with Guardiola's entourage. The same English newspaper explains that there are also other avenues leading to Thomas Tuchel, Eddie Howe and Graham Potter, but the FA's number 1 target is him: Pep Guardiola.
