The news had been anticipated by the British press, It's now official, the Tas has reduced Paul Pogba's disqualification from 4 years to 18 months. The Swiss Court has in fact reduced the disqualification of the midfielder still under contract with Juventus. The French midfielder was disqualified for testing positive for testosterone metabolites following a doping test after the match against Udinese on August 20, 2023.

The CAS panel “partially accepted the appeal presented by Pogba”, reducing “the sanction imposed to 18 months, from September 11, 2023, and canceling the fine”, we read in the press release. The Court of Arbitration for Sport, faced with the request of the Frenchman's lawyers for a sanction of only 12 months, “has however established that Pogba is not exempt from guilt and, as a professional player, he should have paid more attention given the circumstances”.

The decision of the CAS is final and binding, with the sole exception of a possible appeal to the Swiss Federal Court within 30 days, but only for limited reasons. The reduction of the suspension to 18 months represents a significant result for Pogba, who will be able to return to the field sooner than the four years initially planned.
