A man died in the Lampanaro district of Crotone from gunshot wounds during a shooting that occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the Calabrian capital. The victim's name was Francesco Chimirri, resident in Crotone and employed as a pizza maker at Isola Capo Rizzuto. Transferred by rescuers to the San Giovanni di Dio hospital, he arrived already dead. Another person, a police officer, was also seriously injured in the shooting. Investigators are currently trying to piece together the dynamics of what happened. According to a first reconstruction, it was the police officer who shot Chimirri, but we do not yet know whether the police officer was on duty or not. Police, carabinieri and rescuers arrived on site, investigations are entrusted to the Crotone Carabinieri investigation unit. Only the police officer's weapon was found on site.
