Viterbo, an ultralight crashes on takeoff in Vejano: two people killed

Two people in their sixties died this afternoon, Saturday March 2, around 4 p.m., when the microlight that was transporting them crashed to the ground and caught fire. The accident occurred during the take-off phase from the Vejano aerodrome, in the Viterbo region, about one kilometer from the runway. The plane had departed about two hours earlier from the Prenestino Aeroclub airfield in Rome and stopped in Vejano for a break. The impact occurred in an inaccessible area, which is why the intervention of helicopter 118 was necessary to recover the bodies. Among the rescue teams were also the firefighters of Viterbo and the carabinieri of Ronciglione. In the same area, in July 2010, two people died in the crash of another ULM: Tonino Patriarca, 65, and Stefano Fuda, 55, former marshal of the air force, both residents of Rome.
