Goodbye university fees. The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, one of New York's poorest municipalities, will be free thanks to a billion-dollar donation. The donor is a historic emeritus professor of pediatrics at the Institute. Her name is Ruth Gottesman, she is 93 years old and the widow of a well-known Wall Street financial expert. At the announcement by Gottesman, who is also president of the faculty's board of trustees, students erupted in joy. The donation will indeed allow many new doctors to begin their careers without having to manage the enormous costs usually required. Albert Einstein College has become the second tuition-free medical school in New York. In 2018, New York University School of Medicine announced that it would cover tuition for all of its students.
