5 weekends to discover Umbria this autumn

Art, history, gastronomy and wine, nature: different souls ofUmbria They reveal the decisive character of a territory full of beauty. A region in which the visitor discovers and can experience various forms of pleasure: for the eyes, for the palate, for the mind and spirit.

Passing through ancient villages and hills dotted with vineyards and olive groves, through sacred woods and forests, the green heart of Italy reveals unexpected surprises. Even more so in autumn, the ideal season to admire the landscape which gradually changes color and composition.

5 weekends to discover Umbria this autumn

This year there is one more reason to organize an autumn weekend in Umbria. From September 20 to November 3, 2024Over five weekends, the event takes place in selected towns and small villages in the region. Umbria, the flavors of cinemaA sensory experience that combines flavors and images, local oil and wine, territory, nature and great cinema.

Terni, Orvieto, Spello, Montefalco, Bevagna, Assisi, Narni, Montone, Umbertide, Magione and Perugia will host a well-defined programme of events.

Among these, free film screenings preceded by tastings in suggestive wine cellars and oil mills, excursions into nature, workshops with schools, visits to places that have been film sets. And again, walks and treks to immerse participants in an authentic artistic and naturalistic dimension.

Umbria, the flavors of cinema: appointment

Terni and Orvieto (September 20-22)

The first weekend of events will be evocative journey between cinema, wine and Franciscanism in the context of southern Umbriaorganized by Istess.

The program includes nature routes between Orvieto Cliff and the Marmore Falls; visits to the cinema Papigno Studioswhere did Roberto Benigni film Life is beautiful, Pinocchio And The Tiger and the Snow and which houses the Oscar winner's sceno-artistic testament Danilo Donati.

Spello, Montefalco, Assisi and Bevagna (October 11-13)

HAS Spell Two workshops will be organized, one on sounds led by Marco Ciorba and one on makeup with special effects led by Chiara Scardaoni.

Narni (October 18-20)

A few days later, the event will move to Narni, The Umbrian municipality has been a pioneer in the conservation and restoration of 20th century films thanks to The ways of cinema. Montone and Umbertide (October 25-27)

Passing through the Upper Tiber Valley, here is theUmbria Film Festival which offers a variety of screenings, from Italian comedies to The vegetable by Gennaro Nunziante, with Fabio Rovazzi and Luca Zingaretti and filmed on Lake Piediluco, Enough with Vinicio Marchioni, up to cult classics like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Here the tasting of the Singapore Sling cocktail, prepared by world champion Sara Polidori, brings a unique touch to the experience, allowing participants to immerse themselves even more in the atmosphere of the film. And again the presence of the grand master Terry GilliamPresident of the Festival and honorary citizen of Montone.

THE'excursion to the abbey of Montecoronaan 11th century Camaldolese hermitage which was also the location of the film The Life of Dante by Pupi Avati, further enriches the weekend. The route culminates in the heart of Montone.

Magione and Perugia (November 1-3)

The grand finale will take place at Perugia And Manor with the projection of Boris – The Movie and the meeting with one of the protagonists, followed by the screening of My brother is an only child with the participation of screenwriter Stefano Rulli. During the festival, workshops will be organized for children and adolescents, screenings in virtual and augmented reality and meetings with the authors.

The weekend will end with a guided tour of the Abbey of Santa Maria Valdiponte in Montelabate and, on November 3, with a special event dedicated to discovering the historic center of Perugia through its filming locations.
